BALCOMB TROPHY MATCH v SOMERSET

Worcestershire B. A. gained a five shot victory over Somerset B. A. in the Balcomb Trophy (National County Double Rinks).

The home county opened the first end with Rob Stanley picking up a three to lead by four on the second end.   Somerset replied with a four to reverse the deficit.

With both Worcestershire rinks picking up shots on the next four consecutive ends, including another four from Rob Stanley's rink, gave them a twelve shot advantage after the eighth end. 

At the half way stage Somerset had reduced the arrears to six after picking up a four. 

Still holding a slender lead at thirteen ends, the home rinks picked up a four and three to increase the lead to eleven but the visitors again replied with a four, leaving a six shot advantage to the home county.

Going into the final end with Worcestershire still holding a six shot lead, Somerset picked up a two from Louis Ridout's rink, leaving James Bamfield to "Kill" the end twice before conceding a single leaving Worcestershire gaining a great victory.
